LG 47LG70 47-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV

CHEAP LG 47LG70 47-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV

Excellent LCD!!! br /br /I bought this LCD last year (Nov 2008) on Amazon for 80. I was trying to look for a good black Friday sale on a 120mhz LCD. I went and checked out so many LCDs and saw this one which I loved. Well after looking around for the sales and deals, nothing came close to Amazon’s price, which included free white glove delivery and no tax, so my total price was 80.br /br /TV arrived on time and the delivery guy even took it up stairs and unpacked it and hooked it up so I could test it to make sure it was working fine. Setup was a breeze and watching my HD Uverse and my upscale DVD, both on 1080i, is such a blast. I don’t have a Blu-Ray, so I could not tell you how it looks on 1080p yet but I have seen how it looks at the stores playing Blu-Ray and it looks great! I can’t tell you how great the picture is, you have to see to believe. Do what I did, go to a Best Buy, Fry’s, or any electronic store and look at the picture yourself. The great thing about that is you can do a side by side with other models and brands. I also have a PC hooked up to it and using it as a monitor and playing games on it via the computer looks great. Movies played off of the computer or streamed from the internet look great as well. The LCD has 4 HDMI connections which is a great feature to have. To me the build-in sound is good. I have it in the media/game room and it sounds just fine without any hook extra hook ups. When I have people over, I’ll turn on the surround sound on to feel the movies but for everyday watching, the build-in sound is great. Many of my friends that come over comment on how nice and true to life the picture quality looks. These are people with other LCD like Samsung, Panasonic, Toshiba, and Sony. Their LCD/Plasmas range from 42-50 from 60-120mhz. It’s nice to know that they think your LCD looks good. Glare is not an issue with this LCD. Others I had seen at the stores had a bad glare from the lights of the store and this one did not at all.br /br /Like I said before, I had shopped for many months looking and playing around with different LCDs and Plasmas, looking and picture quality, features, price, etc. This LCD stood out in my top 5. The price offered on Amazon sealed the deal for me. br /br /This is by far the best LCD for the price. You can’t go wrong.br /

LG 47LG60 47-Inch 1080p 120hz LCD HDTV, Gloss Piano Black with Scarlet Red

CHEAP LG 47LG60 47-Inch 1080p 120hz LCD HDTV, Gloss Piano Black with Scarlet Red

OK lets talk about features that some people don’t understand and would like if considering this unit. It has 1080i resolution. (possibly best than can be seen by the human eye) Resolution speaks for it’s self.

Now here’s where people get cheap, misinformed, exc. it has 120Hz Technology. What does that mean? Producers of movies, sporting events, TV shows and alike constantly move the camera. (unless your watching c-span) While moving the camera, on a 60hz model you will notice blurriness.. It gets quite annoying to say the least, if your watching an action movie, it is not nearly as sharp as what you could possibly be watching. Going with that… The 120Hz “Feature” technology, the screen faster so images are not blurred. (so much you can actually tell it’s a stunt double, or in the matter of sports, view details much more precisely with out waiting for the slow motion replay.)

The combination of the 1080, and 120Hz IN THE STORE, is usually under rated by poor wiring. A proper DVI/HDMI cable MUST BE USED to get 100% of the TVs potential.

Add this all together, and based on my experience with Digital Cable, HDMI Cable ( standard 1.3 ) , and the 47LG60. I haven’t left the tv.. I wish more/all channels came in HD..

It’s ridiculous to explain the resolution/detail. It’s like I never REALLY was truly watching TV before this set. Allow me to elaborate quickly. I now see that the camera is not on a tripod in 90% of shows / movies.. it bobbles around constantly. In fact now with the HUGE TV, i find myself kinda getting motion sick / car sick because in bobbles so frequently. Secondly I see every detail. Not to name shows, but you can see a SINGLE stray hair on an actress’s head and be amazed, that watching your nightly news, the anchor man has dog hair on his suit, visible now, unseen before… and finally. Hollywood’s actors act horrible.. their movements now in HD are MUCH more obvious and don’t seem real.

My evaluation.. buy yourself an awesome 1080 120hz LCD TV. Get an HD tuner, and watch TV for a week straight.. if you don’t realize what you’ve been missing in the first 5 minutes.. I’ll invite you to come view mine, the 47LG60, and watch me outburst with “OMG do/did you see that?!” Enjoy.

Olevia 47-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

CHEAP Olevia 47-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

This television is really an exceptional deal. I had been slow to upgrade to HD in the bedroom, but, after reading reviews in CR (where it was noted as a “Great Buy”) I checked it out at a local retailer. I was able to get one for under 00 and am extremely happy with it. Big, bright, clear, cheap (but not cheaply made)–everything you’d want! I especially appreciate the fact that it was surprisingly easy to set up. I don’t have a dish or cable connection in the bedroom, so, I just hooked it up to a very old antenna (probably was used to pick up Ed Sullivan) and the television automatically searched for the channels in my area and presto, up and running in literally under 5 minutes. I live approximately 50 miles from the nearest television towers and all expected channels came in perfect. I’m even receiving a number of channels that I didn’t even know where available in our area. The design is nice and understated, although the blue light on the front when the television is turned off is a bit bright for a bedroom (although I think there is a way to turn that off-just haven’t figured it out yet). Remote is very nice with soft rubbery keys that have back lighting. I think anyone would be happy with this purchase.

VIZIO SV471XVT 47-Inch XVT-Series 240 Hz LCD HDTV

CHEAP VIZIO SV471XVT 47-Inch XVT-Series 240 Hz LCD HDTV

I bought this tv about a week ago and have been really pleased. I previously had a 37″ sharp 720p 60hz, and did not like it at all. Well after much research I had narrowed it down the Samsung LN46B750. Only problem is that tv is 00+ dollars. So I wanted another choice and researched and for the price and quality, this Vizio is a no brainer. This XVT is Vizio’s best model other than their new 55″ LED.br /br /Appearance: It looks really nice. Simple, clean, black and silver. Some people hate that the vizio light will stay orange when the tv turns off but its not really noticeable and doesn’t bother me at all.br /br /Sound: Definitely better than my old Sharp, but still nothing to write home about. I have some really nice Logitech 2.1 speakers I use if i’m really wanting the theatre experience but the built in speakers are fine.br /br /Picture quality: This is where I was a HUGE stickler. I wanted at least 120hz, 1080p, and 4ms response time as I’m a gamer. Well this tv has all of those and even goes to 240 with the scanning backlight. The smooth motion when enabled (recommended low) is a little jarring at first, but you quickly get used to it. Not only does smooth motion help with blur, it seems to just make the entire image on screen more crisp whether its moving or not. Very pleased. Watching Dexter on showtime hd was AMAZING! The detail in the intro is just jaw dropping. And this is only in 1080i. Xbox 360 really shows how crisp it can really get. I thought Dexter details were amazing, I hadn’t seen nothing until I popped in Modern Warfare 2. Its a sight to be seen. The smooth motion works beautifully on videogames. No problems with blurring at all. Very rarely will there be any judder problems and even when you see a hiccup its for like 1 second, my wife never notices it. Hopefully getting a PS3 soon and check out blurays. But if the other content is any indication of what to expect, it will be great. I just can’t imagine it getting any better. We’ll see.br /br /Cons: As with all tv’s there are always some quirks. I did notice the faintest of flash lighting at the top of the screen in a tiny small area. This is a problem with MANY LCD tvs and is really only noticeable when the screen is completely black, even then its barely noticeable. I only notice it cause I set out looking for these things. Compared to the flash lighting and clouding I’ve seen on some tvs, this one if by far and away one of the better. DO NOT at all let this problem scare you as all tv’s are different and some may not have it at all. PLUS most tvs need 50-100 hours of break in time to fully get everything warmed up so most likely it will fade. Even still my wife can’t see what I’m talking about lol.br /br /Conclusion: For the price and quality, bar none the best deal you are gonna find for a while. I was able to snag mine at SAMS for 7. 360 PS3 users, you will not be disappointed. Will update after I’ve had it for a while! br /br /br /UPDATE: 12/28/2009br /br /Well I got a PS3 for christmas and got to see if blurays were any better than hd cable I had been viewing. I have to admit it looks incredible and does indeed look better. I got my wife the Harry Potter bluray collection, and we popped them in, absolutely CRYSTAL CLEAR. Sharp as can be, great colors. So yes, it did indeed get better than I thought. The tv handled the bluray beautifully with its motion and the colors looked dead on.br /br /Also the flashlighting I mentioned earlier in my review has subsided quite a bit and I have to really set there and stare at the blank screen to even be able to see it, so that is good news as well.br /br /Once again I 100% recommend this TV! Thanks for reading and hope I was a bit helpful in your search.

LG 47LH30 47-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV, Gloss Black

CHEAP LG 47LH30 47-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV, Gloss Black

I’ve never ordered anything this large and expensive online before so I was nervous about my purchase. In the end everything turned out perfect, The TV arrived without any scratches, no dead pixels, or other defects. The “Pilot” delivery service sent 2 guys who were nice and set up the TV for me and made sure it worked.

About the TV: No complaints. The TV is everything it says it is in the above description so it’s all I expected it to be.

My only wish is that there was a headphone jack on this TV but there isn’t.

Little warning about what to expect with a 1080p HDTV. Before I did some research I assumed that everything I watched on this TV would be a big improvement over my previous 720p HDTV but I was wrong. The only things that are improvements over a 720p is 1080p content which is pretty much just blu-ray movies. Cable TV, Playstation 3 videogames, Xbox 360 videogames, are all 720p. And content that is native 720p looks best on a 720p tv. So I did notice that cable and video games looked slightly better on my previous 720p tv but Blu-ray movies looked best on this 1080p TV.

Over all I am very satisfied with my purchase and recommend this TV.

Philips 47PFL7403D/27 47-inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV

CHEAP Philips 47PFL7403D/27 47-inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV

The picture quality is definetly 5 stars. I do not have cable or satellite and am in awe of the picture quality I get from the digital stations from my antenna. Watching DVD movies with an HDMI compatible player was phenomenal. If you just need to have the best picture for watching TV, sports, movies this is great.br /br /The reason I gave it four stars.br /1. Remote : Very cheapish for the price of the TV. It can not be programmed to run anything but your TV. There are programmable remotes out there for around so this is not the main reason.br /2. Switching channels : Using the remote, when you type in the channel you want to go to the numbers on the screen are very small for such a large screen size. Also, when just using the channel up button or down button it takes a little time (1s) to “get the picture” but the channel does not show up on the screen until the picture does.br /3. Menu : Is easy to navigatebr /4. Output: There is no output of video, so I can not record shows onto a VCR. Also the output for sound is one digital RCA type (outputs great dolby 5.1 from digital broadcast TV), so you better make sure your reciever has this on it for your surround sound system. Mine had it for my DVD player and other components, but not for TV. One plus here is that I can watch the TV, sound comes into my reciever on the DVD setting, and when I put a DVD in to play I do not have to switch the reciever to DVD. That actually is pretty great.br /5. Options : This is why I gave it 4 stars. It finds station great and labels them accordingly with the call letters of the station. Bad thing is I want to lable them so I know I am watching NBC, CBS, ABC. You get the picture. I would have loved to name them NBC-1, so I know where my antenna is supposed to point to get these stations. Not a bad minus but my old analog television even had this.

CHEAP Magnavox 47MF439B/F7 47-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with Digital Tuner

I have worked for a cable company as well as a Directv and Dish Network maintainer, so I get a look at TVs at every price level. That said this is a pretty good TV, at the price it goes for this is a great TV. I use it with digital cable, mostly High Def, also an Xbox 360 and a PS3 all through HDMI connections. After some initial tweaking the picture is beautiful. There is no adjustment for the backlight so the picture is very bright, and while this great for rooms with a lot of ambient light, this leads to the one problem that I have with this set, during very bright, usually sunlight scenes, there is considerable blooming of the lighted objects. It only manifest itself under certain conditions and by no means often, but you should be aware. If you’re not looking for perfection from a set, just a good picture at a great price, here it is.

Phlips 47PFL6704D/F7 47-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV

CHEAP Phlips 47PFL6704D/F7 47-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV

I have been researching on and off for almost 6 months trying to find the “perfect” tv that will fit my needs and my pocketbook. I have reviewed the technical details and the specifications of numerous tvs and had narrowed the search down to the Samsung LN46B630 and the Phillips 47 PFL6704D. I had decided on the Samsung and went to my local Sam’s Club to buy it when the manager of the electronics area, told me they had a rash of returns on the Samsungs over the last month.br /br /I had no reason not to switch as both units were at the top of my list, but after making my decision and purchasing the Phillips and using it for 10 days, I know I made the right decision.br /br /Arriving home with the TV my wife assisted me in removing it from the box. This task is made very easy by the clever design of the box. It is a two person job. Do not try it by yourself as you are likely to tip it over and damage the TV. The next day, the Direct TV guy came and installed our dish and hooked up the tv. He hooked up the tv and couldn’t believe the tv didn’t appear to need any adjustment right out of the box. He also couldn’t believe how effective the matte screen reduced the amount of reflection nearly to zero.br /br /I have only had one LCD TV and that was a 26inch Vizio in my RV. It seemed to take forever to get that adjusted for acceptable color etc. The Phillips seemed to need no adjustment so I thought I would wait for a few days before making any adjustments. The PFL670 is a 120 Hz so one sees no “judder” and its 2 ms response time is so fast you don’t have ANY lag time or jerky movements during fast action scenes. The colors are bright and vivid it kind of reminded me of when I got new glasses my entire world brightened up. So it is with the Phillips TV. I have a friend who is a TV tech at a national electronics store coming over tomorrow. He told me he will be glad to make any adjustments since they don’t sell Phillips at his store. He wants to be able to compare it to the Samsung and other models they do sell. He was very skeptical that the set would be “IN TUNE” right out of the box. If possible, I will come back and make additions and corrections to this review when he has completed his “tune up”. In summary, my wife and I are both pleased beyond belief that we found a TV that meets all our needs including the lack of reflections by the matte screen. We wish that all our decisions would work out this well.br /br /I want to add, that I don’t think it fair that people mark a TV up or down with delivery issues. The delivery has nothing to do with the product and it’s performance. Delivery is a separate issue. I rate the Phillips soley on it performance and its specs. I try to compare it to other products and their specs. When a product does not meet its specs it should be downgraded in the review. In the case of this particular Phillips TV, in my opinion, this model meets or exceeds all the specs. The contrast issue of 50K to 1 with this model is reduced by the matt screen. If you have a glossy screen you will have a sharper black. However, with a matte screen and a setting with the potential for reflection, our living room with a walk thru patio door, we were more concerned with reflection than we were with sharper blacks. After all, 50K is right up there with the best of them regardless of the matte screen.br /br /

This TV is great. The picture is beautiful. I shopped around in stores and on the internet. Get this TV, you won’t be sorry. The HDTV channels are stunning. And, the Standard Definition channels are good. It seems that technology has surpassed technology with HDTV. I was talking to a TV salesman the other day and he stated that three years ago he had five HDTV channels on his TV, today direct TV has over 90. I believe by the end of the year their will be more. The tecnnical specifications on Amazon list this TV as having 8ms response time when in fact it is 5ms. The blacks are really black and the brightness is great. Buy this TV!!!
