CHEAP Haier HL26R 26-Inch Widescreen LCD HDTV

We bought the Haier 26″ TV about three months ago, and absolutely love it. I must admit, we were coming from a 15-year-old 19″ TV, so this is our first flat-panel LCD TV. However, I must say I was really surprised by the great picture we’ve gotten with this TV. I did a lot of research, and have looked at a lot of TVs in the big box shops. This TV has nice deep blacks and vibrant colors. Just make sure you have an HDMI cable, the standard video cable inputs will give you very strange boxing of the video feed.br /br /Though I really enjoy the TV, there are a few cons. The most major one is the lack of dynamic recognition of the incoming video type. We watch mostly DVDs, and the TV does not automatically recognize whether the video feed is widescreen or standard, so you must choose the video type each time. (This is really annoying on some DVDs as the menu or previews may be standard, while the main show is widescreen.) The TV comes with a really nifty universal remote, but the volume control ONLY works for the TV, and the control buttons don’t fully match up to our DVD player (a new model Philips). Also, the TV is very slow to respond to the remote, it is also slow to turn on and off. Overall, these are minor complaints to what is a very nice TV. We really love it.

Bought at Sears about 0. Easy basic set up. To go further with add-on devices you MUST understand the technical names and connectors. Instructions are limited on plug-ins. Great picture. Great sound for first 30+ days. Now I get a “buzz” on bass type sounds, like distortion of speaker or vibration in plastic case. Not yet worth taking down and going for repair. No direct outputs for speakers/surround sound, have to connect other cables. Overall it is a much better picture than previous 30″ analog set. Channel change is slow, maybe due to using an antenna. Reception clips in and out often even on best channels (but never on commercials
The input/output connections are hidden and confusing but overall for our use it works great. Just wish it was more novice friendly on installation.

I bought the Samsung UN26C4000, the first 26″ LED on the market, at a local electronics store, and exchanged it for this TV. I couldn’t be happier. That LED had bad ghosting/banding. This LN26c350 not only has great picture quality, but it also has speakers in the front! I never expect phenomenal sound from a smaller LCD TV, but this is far better than most. A lot of the smaller LCD TVs have speakers that point away from the BACK of the TV, which is just plain dumb. Also, this Samsung has really good black levels for an LCD in its class. Overall, great HD picture, 2 HDMI inputs, easy menu settings, and front facing speakers makes this the best 26″ LCD TV I could find. I use it with HD U-verse service in the bedroom. I would say this is the best value and quality out there for this size. It’s too bad all of the high end features go into 32″ TVs and larger.
