LG 47LG70 47-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV

CHEAP LG 47LG70 47-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV

Excellent LCD!!! br /br /I bought this LCD last year (Nov 2008) on Amazon for 80. I was trying to look for a good black Friday sale on a 120mhz LCD. I went and checked out so many LCDs and saw this one which I loved. Well after looking around for the sales and deals, nothing came close to Amazon’s price, which included free white glove delivery and no tax, so my total price was 80.br /br /TV arrived on time and the delivery guy even took it up stairs and unpacked it and hooked it up so I could test it to make sure it was working fine. Setup was a breeze and watching my HD Uverse and my upscale DVD, both on 1080i, is such a blast. I don’t have a Blu-Ray, so I could not tell you how it looks on 1080p yet but I have seen how it looks at the stores playing Blu-Ray and it looks great! I can’t tell you how great the picture is, you have to see to believe. Do what I did, go to a Best Buy, Fry’s, or any electronic store and look at the picture yourself. The great thing about that is you can do a side by side with other models and brands. I also have a PC hooked up to it and using it as a monitor and playing games on it via the computer looks great. Movies played off of the computer or streamed from the internet look great as well. The LCD has 4 HDMI connections which is a great feature to have. To me the build-in sound is good. I have it in the media/game room and it sounds just fine without any hook extra hook ups. When I have people over, I’ll turn on the surround sound on to feel the movies but for everyday watching, the build-in sound is great. Many of my friends that come over comment on how nice and true to life the picture quality looks. These are people with other LCD like Samsung, Panasonic, Toshiba, and Sony. Their LCD/Plasmas range from 42-50 from 60-120mhz. It’s nice to know that they think your LCD looks good. Glare is not an issue with this LCD. Others I had seen at the stores had a bad glare from the lights of the store and this one did not at all.br /br /Like I said before, I had shopped for many months looking and playing around with different LCDs and Plasmas, looking and picture quality, features, price, etc. This LCD stood out in my top 5. The price offered on Amazon sealed the deal for me. br /br /This is by far the best LCD for the price. You can’t go wrong.br /

CHEAP Coby TFDVD1973 19-Inch Widescreen LCD HDTV/Monitor with DVD Player and HDMI Input, Black

Has a good picture and more features then anything I was able to find at any price, and this was just a little over 200 bucks.First of all the 2 things that is not at par for me is that its so new my cable remote don’t have the code for it so I have to use the remote that came with it for volume. Plus the remote don’t work unless your under 10 feet from the set.br /I have it in my garage so the dvd works great for plans that I buy on dvd and the usb slot is great for pictures or other info as is the camera card slot. If your gonna put it on the wall as I did don’t forget the wall mount that they suggest with it, () you can’t get one any cheaper. Beleive me I tryed, not even wal-mart………If I get 5 years out of it I figure I got my $$$$$$ worth.

Sharp LC26DV27UT 26-Inch 720p LCD HDTV with Built-in DVD Player, Black

CHEAP Sharp LC26DV27UT 26-Inch 720p LCD HDTV with Built-in DVD Player, Black

We received this TV as a gift and have just mounted it in the corner of our workout room using the Peerless PA740 Articulating Wall Mount for 22″ to 40″ Displays. The TV is mounted right in front of an exercise bike, and the 26″ size is perfect for that location (we had considered the 22″ size). The sound volume works for us, but my husband would prefer it to be louder if that were an option. The sound is loud enough to hear very well over the noise of an exercise bike when turned to maximum. I will need to see if there are separate speakers I can buy and mount on the tv somehow. There are audio outputs on the TV – digital coaxial and red and white rca. So far we have only used it for DVDs, and it works perfectly. The picture quality looks great even from side angles and from different heights (although the image dims when I look at it when sitting on the floor). We are very happy with the picture quality.br /br /EDITbr /We have hooked the TV to our cable line (directly, with no box), and are happy with how the TV works for watching cable. I don’t notice slow channel changing.br /br /I’m still trying to decide whether to add external speakers. I purchased an 2 x RCA Male / 1 x 3.5mm Stereo Female, Y-Cable, 6 inch, plugged it into the RCA output on the TV, and attached it to some old computer speakers. That worked well, so I’m considering trying to buy some smaller computer speakers that I can somehow attach to the TV, which is wall mounted. Note that the speakers have to have their own power cord (some speakers out there attach via usb and no powercord, and that style would not work for this tv).

Magnavox 32″ 720p LCD HDTV – 32MF338B

CHEAP Magnavox 32″ 720p LCD HDTV – 32MF338B

I have had my TV now for four Months and am very pleased with it’s performance. I FINALLY was able to see first hand what “High Definition” looks like as I just bought my first Blu Ray DVD for my new Blu Ray Player. All I can say is “WOW!” The colors are amazing… the blacks are black and this TV has excellent detail and contrast. I am sure there are better HDTV’s out there, but for the price I paid I am VERY pleased with the picture as well as the clarity of the slightly underpowered speakers. Watching Journey To The Center Of The Earth in 3-D was quite a treat and I will watch it over and over thanks to this quality TV. Thanks Magnavox!!

Sony BRAVIA VE5-Series KDL-52VE5 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz Eco-friendly LCD HDTV

CHEAP Sony BRAVIA VE5-Series KDL-52VE5 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz Eco-friendly LCD HDTV

I bought this after a 32″ Samsung stopped working with certain HDMI sources. I still love Samsung, but after that one mysteriously stopped working I decided I’d try something new. And I’m glad I did. The 52″ size is really perfect for my room. It’s definitely a large set, but not so large that images feel overly stretched across its surface.br /br /Initially I was very disappointed with the image quality. The issue is that when the light sensor is turned on, the backlight slider can be set to full power, but you’re only experiencing a fraction of this set’s incredible brightness. Although the brightness sensor seems like a great feature, I found that overall it was too aggressive in reducing brightness, so I have to recommend that it be turned off. Ironically, it works better in well-lit rooms than dark. Once you have full control over the backlighting, this set really shines. The contrast is excellent (my camera has a contrast ratio of 2000:1, and it couldn’t capture this TV’s image fully). So I can believe that it has the 5000:1 on-screen contrast that Sony claims.br /br /Personally, I don’t like my image tampered with. The low setting of motionflow is okay, but the high setting is really comical and only good if you crave that look of sped up footage. The contrast enhancer I also don’t find necessary, since the image has great contrast natively. However, I do like that you can create multiple image settings for each input. For example, I can quickly toggle between a game setting and a movie setting when using my PS3.br /br /Sound quality is fair. Nothing to write home about. I certainly don’t use TV speakers with an image this good, and don’t recommend anyone else does either.br /br /The energy saving features and setup of this set are really excellent. My surge protector monitors current, and this tv usually uses only 0.4 amps (~50 watts). It’s mainly dependent on the backlight brightness, but even so, this is one very efficient product. I was worried that the unique backlight would tinge the color, but as far as I can tell, it’s spot-on. The motion sensing really does work. I leave it set to 30 minutes and it hasn’t shut off on me yet, which is good. Sony doesn’t mention this much on their website, but it’s also heat-sensing, which could explain it’s sensitivity. I sit 13 feet away, and it detects my motion with little difficulty.br /br /The worst part about the TV is either the remote, or the fact that the inputs are on the side. If you end up swapping inputs a lot, I suppose it’s nice, but otherwise I feel it’s a poor design decision. Depending on the heft of your wires, and your seating angle, you could be looking at HDMI cables out the side of your otherwise beautiful tv set. The remote is very basic. Compared to the older V-series Bravias, this TV actually has the less fancy interface (the XMB went hand in hand with a nicer remote for the 4100 series). That said, I don’t feel affected by either. If the decision to drop a pointlessly shiny interface and fancier remote keeps the price down, I’m all for it. I use a Fios or universal remote almost exclusively, so I don’t miss it. And since I don’t use the TV to tune my programming, the XMB would be a waste. That said, this interface is fine, very logical and doesn’t hide settings too deep (except motion flow). No frills, but won’t disappoint either.br /br /I wish Sony had included a little more detail in their manual, but I doubt most people even read those anymore, so I’m just nit picking. The stand is pretty good, although Sony recommends you anchor down the TV to the wall, which might be a good idea. Shame the stand doesn’t swivel, as I have two common sitting positions in my room. Oh well. The important thing is that the image quality on this TV is superb, there are no oversights that ruin the usability or connectivity of the TV, it’s very energy efficient, and it looks good even when off. I fully recommend this TV if you like the V-series, and are interested in saving some energy.

Samsung UN40B7000 40-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV

CHEAP Samsung UN40B7000 40-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV

I’d been hearing about the upcoming Samsung 9000 series, with the wireless “media box” and the full localized LED backlighting (this one uses edge-based LED lighting). I kept waiting on it to come out, but it was delayed repeatedly, and I finally decided to go with this one (assuming that when the 9000 came out, I’d move this one to my bedroom).

Well, let’s just say I feel no desire to “upgrade” my living room TV now. This set is BEAUTIFUL… even though it’s not “localized LED backlit” I’ve still got so much black-to-white contrast, compared to any set I’ve ever seen before, that I can’t imagine, right now, that I’d be able to see the difference on a better set. If I can’t tell the difference between a device and the “better” version… as far as I’m concerned, there IS no difference.

This set is part of a complete “home theater” setup, including a full 7.1 speaker system (two original-release Bose 301 speakers, a set of Klipsch Quintet IIIs, and a Polk PSW505 12″ subwoofer), a Pioneer 1019 receiver, a home theater PC, plus a full range of sources (turntable, cassette, VCR, DVD-changer, Archos 5 internet media tablet, cable-company DVR, and blu-ray player).

If I had a much larger living room, I might want a LARGER set, but as far as the picture quality, I’m just amazed. Note that everything I watch on this set (in High-definition, at least) comes in through the receiver, and I’m sure that contributes some elements to the overall picture characteristics… but I’ve never seen a better picture anywhere.

The sound quality from the built-in speakers is better than “fine” but obviously not truly hi-fidelity. The feature set is very complete (though I think I need to upgrade my “wireless G” uplink point to a “wireless N” uplink point so that I can watch movies from online… you need a FAST connection for this to work, though all the rest of the internet-ish features work flawlessly on my “wireless G” connection).

Note that if you want the “internet” features, you’ll either need to connect a network cable to it, or do as I have and go wireless. If you go wireless, you have only one choice… Samsung’s PROPRIETARY “usb dongle.” That’s the one criticism of this set I can really make.

As far as the set’s cosmetics… I would have preferred it to be provided without the “touch of color” bezel, and instead just be the functional monitor (which would actually be a bit smaller overall). But I’m a guy, I couldn’t care less about the appearance (provide it doesn’t have “Hello Kitty” on it or something!). I care about how it works… and it works magnificently. I got it here because it was VERY affordable here… that’s what keeps me coming back to Amazon (instead of shopping at my local Best Buy or whatever). Mind you, I’d gladly patronize my local shop, if they had the stock, and the prices, you get here.

But let’s just say… I’ve decided to buy the smaller version (32″, 6000 series) to go into my bedroom now, and I bought that from Amazon as well. It’s hard to beat the service you get here!

CHEAP Polaroid TLX-01511C – 15.4″ LCD TV – widescreen – 720p – HDTV

The picture and sound quality are great. However, if you desire to mount this model on the wall, you will have to buy an articulating mount for it as the power and connection cords are on the back. Not a huge drawback as for the price, this is a great deal.
