Not always the first one to jump on the bandwagon, I was definitely leery about spending a bundle of cash on an HD set when my tube TV seemed just fine. This is, of course, until Amazon and other retailers had this baby available earlier this year at a fantastic…unbeatable, really, price. br /br /Now, I warmed to the idea, but again, I need to know what exactly I’m doing with my hard earned cash. I spent countless hours not only deciding the LCD -vs- Plasma -vs- DLP debate (I settled on plasma), but which brand/size/etc I definitely wanted to stick with until the next “latest and greatest” technology craze bites.br /br /I concluded the Panasonic 42″ TH-42PX80U was the way to go. Not only do multiple professional reviews give Panasonic props for displaying the truest blacks, but they also produce a plasma which should have the capacity to run approximately 8 hours a day for the next 20 years. For the price compared ot LCD, at the time, it was a no-brainer for me.br /br /So, while I’m not much for opening new credit cards, I did accept Amazons offer to create a credit line for no interest over a period of six months. To sweeten the deal, I also received Amazon’s ‘White Glove Delivery’ service. A1 absolutely fantastic.br /br /Four months with the new TV, and I’m smitten. It looks great and connected nicely with my Denon AV surround receiver. Blue Ray’s look great, as do the new episodes of Lost, and as I’m sure it will when the Cubs win the series this year 
. Can’t believe it took me so long to come around and I have absolutely ZERO regrets trusting Panasonic with my television needs.br /br /I should say, I do not use the TV’s audio. this is NOT because the sound is poor; its actually outstanding. I just prefer to put my full audio system to use.

This Vizio television is the 2nd HDTV I have every purchased. The first one was a DLP projection television, which broke down within about 6 months of ownership. My wife and I eventually purchased this television as a replacement for that one. Since it is usually better to break down a product into criteria, I might as well do that.
Video: This television is 1080p, which is the highest level of HD. Since I do not have a high definition cable channels or a blue ray disk player, the only way I can really rate HD video is my indoor antennae, which gets a couple high def channels, and my xbox 260, which has a high def cable. Although the xbox 360 is not really true HD, it still looks incredible, and really shows the improvement of s-cable to HD component. To date, I have not used the available HDMI ports. The image is clear, bright, and easy to see. The ability to use computers is great with a vga and sound port, and everything on the computer screen, particularly text, is clear and easy to follow as well.
Sound: The sound is very nice, and I never have to turn the sound over 30 of 100. Also note I like my TV loud usually, so the sound is as good as I would every expect from a television. This includes using the TV as speakers for your computer, which it also can do perfectly fine.
Menu: This is something frequently not mentioned on most televisions, but is very important to me. The menu is very easy to use and read. More than that, it gives you tons of options. A lack of options is something that always bothered me about other televisions. Besides being able to affect the colors and dark levels with a large variety of options, you can also effect sound. Not just bass and treble, you can also manipulate the lip syncing and use of speakers (turning them off if this is ever needed) When using a computer, you can manipulate the screen, so in the cases that the resolution doesn’t match up, the tv with compensate for you.
Extras: Perhaps one of the coolest things to me is the ability to display a guide on digital channels. On the antennae, and maybe cable without DVR too, the tv can automatically gather and display the list of the next 2-3 hours of tv shows, so even without digital television, you can see what shows are coming up and when without the use of tv guide channel. The remote is decent, but you can still do just about everything with the tv, so you are not dependent on the remote like some tvs make you.
To sum it up: This television is very good and worth the price that I spent on it, around 0. It has held up for about 9 months now, and still runs strong. The only bad thing I can say about it is that it constantly uses power when it is plugged in. Most devices do, and this one shows you by displaying an “orange” light that spells out vizio in the front. I also wouldn’t mind if it started up a little quicker. Those two things aside, the tv is great for numerous purposes, from watching movies to tv to computer monitor. Definitely a recommended buy.

This is the first flat screen HDTV that I have ever purchased. I, like many others looking for HDTVs, did a lot of research before finding “the one”. I’m extremely satisfied with this as my first purchase. I’ve owned it for a little over 2 months now and have gotten a lot of use out of it already.br /br /Right out of the box the TV not only looked great but had a sturdy feel to it. This is a well designed TV and doesn’t feel flimsy or cheaply made. Other reviewers are complaining about some of the inputs being on the side of the TV – it’s not a problem. There is enough of a gap between the inputs and the edge of the TV where any cables plugged into the side inputs can be neatly tucked around and behind.br /br /The picture quality is amazing. Playing PS3 and XBOX 360 via HDMI looks phenomenal. Bluray movie and picture quality is amazing as well. I also have this thing doubling as a computer monitor via HDMI. There is a small ghosting effect on dark areas but I’m not surprised by that; this wasn’t purchased with the intent of a gaming monitor for my computer but it’s amazing how fun games are on a screen this big. Watching streaming HD content off the internet looks great too. The fact that this is 1080p and also 120hz makes just about anything look spectacular on here. There really is nothing bad to say about the picture quality on this set. All Sony Bravia television sets that I’ve viewed I have been very impressed with the picture quality.br /br /The sound is something that I was a little disappointed on. The built in sound on the TV isn’t bad by any means, however, it’s not great either. You can’t turn the volume up too loud otherwise the sound will really begin to distort. Low and mid volumes are the best way to listen with just the built in speakers. I eventually plugged into an external sound system and it sounds much better that way. I would recommend future (and current) owners to go this route to get the best sound quality.br /br /Other various built in features I think are a nice compliment to the set. The menu functions are easy to use and navigate through. There are a lot of options to change around and edit, which is a nice bonus I think. The remote isn’t bad either. I didn’t order a firmware update from Sony but instead downloaded the latest firmware from their website and installed it myself. Wasn’t difficult at all – the directions online to do this are easy enough to follow.br /br /Overall I’m incredibly satisfied with my purchase. I would definitely purchase another one of these if given the opportunity, and would definitely recommend this set. I was on the fence for several weeks deciding on which HDTV to get. If you’re looking for something you will really get your money’s worth from – get this TV and I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

We bought this TV at sams club and we got a 300 dollar in store gift card. We bought the TV for 1200, do the math…good deal!br /br /Anyway, we were pleasantly surprised by how this tv makes our regular DVD’s look HIGH DEF. For this, we’re going to hold off on Blue-ray for awhile.br /br /The TV is 120hz so the motion of the camera and subjects in the movie seem to move around different, but the quality is awsome.br /br /I don’t have a lot of Electronic jargon to throw at you but you need to know you won’t be disappointed with this TV. The TV even has audio plug ins for 5.1 surround sound…I’ve only seen this on computers and receivers.br /br /I’m not sure when the best time to buy a TV is since the price are always coming down. My advice is don’t buy a TV with less than 120hz and 29,000:1 contrast ratio (depending on your budget). Bought one of these last September(2007)and it has been trouble free. I especially appreciate the QAM tuner which allows me to pickup extra HD channels from my cable service without the extra cost set top box and HD Tier option.

I bought this item as a store demo for use in our master bedroom. It seemed okay with some slight wear, but it was the right choice. With a DVR from our cable company, the picture quality is outstanding, with at least good sound quality. It does take a little while to turn on and to change functions, such as between inputs, but it’s not a big deal. With plenty of analogue inputs, and 2 HDMI inputs, it should be versatile enough for most needs, including a high-def source such as satellite TV or high-def cable, and of course a home theater system with an upscaling DVD player. Sharp has an excellent reputation for high-quality products with low rate of repair needs, so I would recommend this TV to anyone looking for a really fine quality 720p 32″ LCD HDTV. The remote control is also very user-friendly.

I have been using my Samsung LCD TV for several months now. I am very pleased with the picture, even though I have not yet changed my cable service to HD. I continue to be amazed at how good regular TV images can be. I was watching a show when a commercial came on that depicted either clouds or an explosion at high-speed. I caught it out of the corner of my eye and my reaction was “WOW!” What must HD be like on this set? Eventually, I will find out.
The TV has a nice array of settings to play around with for your viewing pleasure — but my “but…” from above is the lack of having a way of changing the aspect ratio directly from the remote. As it is, that setting is buried in the menu tree. A real pity, as regular cable has a variety of aspect ratios in use, and I am frequently changing that setting.
All in all, I am still happy with my Samsung. I would definately recommend this manufacturer.
